In 1989 I got a job with a photo agency - see above, that's a blonde me on the left. By 1991 I was running the London office. By 1992 I was running the New York office, and I have been here in NY ever since. It occurred to me that I have now been in the industry for 30 years! In that time I have run a business overseeing more than 70 staff, worked in a fine art gallery, worked for an online fashion magazine, run a website about architectural photography, launched Karsh on the web, and on social media, curated a bunch of shows, juried a variety of competitions... and on it goes. But sadly, my mentor, the founder of the agency, who would become one of my closest friends, died last year. 30 years working with the wonderful Michael Putland - what a thrill and a huge honor.
Michael visited New York last year to promote his new book "The Music I Saw" - a virtual encyclopedia of musicians from the 60s to present, from Abba to Zappa. Thanks go to our friend Gary Gershoff for capturing our relationship perfectly in this one frame.
